You are a lone agent, the last hope of your race, vying for control of The Ovoid, the greatest and most important object in the history of all civilizations across the Universal Biota. Whoever holds The Ovoid when the old universe dies will become master of the new one. Find it! Get it! Protect it! The fate of the unierse is in your hands!
In Chaosmos, a richly thematic and multilayered hidden-information strategy game, players traverse the galaxy, building up the cards in their hand and using them to find and protect The Ovoid.
Will you seek out weapons to crush your opponents and take The Ovoid by force? Or will you search for sneaky gadgets to gain it through trickery? Decide quickly - the Chaos Clock is ticking and time is running out!
Chaosmos uses an open-world exploration system called “area-caching.” There is no draw deck; all the cards are distributed amongst the players’ hands and planet envelopes. The Chaos Clock counts down clockwise from 48 (36 for a shorter game), and each player’s turn brings the Chaos Clock one step closer to zero.
Chaosmos is a 2-4 player hidden-information strategy game with miniatures, playable in 60-90 minutes.
In Chaosmos, you are an alien on a desperate quest to find and secure the most important object in the history of the biocosm – the Ovoid. You’ll traverse the galaxy, exploring planets and battling other players to build up a strategic hand of cards.
As you progress through the game, you’ll gather weapons and tactical equipment that help you discover, gain control of, and protect the Ovoid. This mysterious artifact is your civilization’s last hope for survival, and you will have to use deception, misdirection, and strategy to outwit your opponents and possess it at the exact moment the universe collapses! By carefully balancing your hand of cards, spending your turn actions wisely, and cleverly using your alien powers, you’ll maintain a grasp on the state of the game while plunging everyone else into chaos.
* Players have a 3 action turn which they use to move around stars and planets
* Each planet has a corresponding envelope that contains the equipment cards that are on that planet
* Players land on planets to exchange cards and battle other players for control
* Players manage their hand and the caches of cards on planets
* Players attempt to obtain the Ovoid card and hold it or hide it on a planet to recover later
* Weapon cards have corresponding counters that reflect damage, so players must adapt to their opponents’ strategies
