Deep Gate (HC)
Deep Gate (HC)

A new Arkham Horror novella by Chris A. Jackson, which includes four new cards for Arkham Horror: The Card Game.

“I dream under the sea, and I see faces, bloated faces with bulging eyes. They remind me of people I knew as a boy, half-drowned, but not dead.” Silas shivered, but not from the chill gusts blowing through the open door. Pointed teeth grinned, webbed hands reaching for him, glowing eyes in the darkness… He couldn’t tell Martin those details, of course. Some things you couldn’t say aloud if you wanted to stay out of the madhouse.
–Chris A. Jackson, The Deep Gate

What secrets have been drowned in Devil Reef?
Silas Marsh has always felt called to the sea. As a young lad, he left his family in fear-shadowed Innsmouth and made a name for himself sailing the seven seas. But after the death of his parents, the sea’s call has only grown stronger. Silas has dreams—nightmares—of pointed teeth grinning, webbed hands reaching, and eyes glowing in the darkness of the ocean deeps. No one in his family is able to offer an explanation for his dreams, or at least, no one is willing.

A Dark Prophecy
Silas didn't want to make the trip back to Arkham, but the chance to find answers about his malady was too enticing to pass up. He returned to the area in search of someone who could tell him whether the nightmares that plague his nights are some sort of family ailment, like dropsy or ulcers. There seemed to be a pall of silence hanging over everyone he spoke to, but one cousin seems willing to help Silas gain some insight.

So, when desperate librarian Abigail Foreman comes to Silas with questions of her own, he cannot turn her away. Her ancient and mysterious tome, the Prophesiae Profana, points to a stellar event foretelling the end of the world, and painted in its margins are the same creatures that haunt Silas’s nightmares. After a few calculations, the pair determine that this terrible event will occur at Devil Reef in three days’ time. With the relentless rains that have been hammering New England, there is only one place where even an experienced sailor can hope to approach the reef from in time to stop this event. Silas must return to Innsmouth.

Within the pages of The Deep Gate, you'll find a thrilling story of nautical horror and heroism, along with fifteen pages of full color inserts. These documents provide you with every piece of evidence at Silas Marsh’s disposal, from journal entries and ocean maps to medical reports and official correspondence. With these documents, you can embody the role of investigator, solving the case alongside Silas Marsh. Perhaps the key to preventing this cosmic catastrophe is hidden within the lines of these pages.

The Sailor
The adventure of The Deep Gate leaves the pages of its tome to expand your investigations in Arkham with four new cards for Arkham Horror: The Card Game! While Silas will return home from the sea and be released in an Arkham Horror: The Card Game product at a later date, this marks his first appearance in the game.

Silas never asked to become part of the world of vengeful Elder Gods and creatures that defy the laws of reality. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, making him a member of the Survivor class. Having left Innsmouth in favor of the seafarer’s life at a young age, Silas lacked a formal education, leaving him with an intellect of two. Instead, the ship was his schoolroom. Here, Silas learned think on his feet, and arduous days on an unforgiving sea equipped him with combat and agility of four.

Accustomed to extended stays at sea, Silas is well-skilled at making the most of limited resources. This ingenuity shines through in Silas’s ability—once per round after he reveals a chaos token during a skill test, he may return a skill card committed to that test to his hand.

This sailor must also rely on his resourcefulness when using his Elder Sign ability. Silas does not have a strong link to the arcane and often does not believe in what he cannot see. In his mind, sailors may have their superstitions, but a lucky memento is no substitute for nautical prowess and well-kept equipment. When Silas draws an Elder Sign token from the chaos bag, he doesn't gain any direct bonus, but he may commit a skill to the test from his discard pile. Then, once the test is complete, he returns that skill to his hand instead of discarding it.

The Unforgiving Sea
In The Deep Gate, Silas seeks some solution to the Curse that haunts his sleep with Dreams of the Deep (The Deep Gate, 15). This personal weakness acts as a skill card for Silas. However, Dreams of the Deep’s two icons subtract from Silas’s skill value instead of adding to it! Unfortunately for the sailor, he cannot run from this malady and must instead overcome it. If the test that Dreams of the Deep is committed to fails, Silas must return the skill to his hand. And to make matters worse, if this card remains in the investigator’s hand at the end of his turn, he must reveal it and suffer two damage.

Perhaps Silas’s one hope of overcoming these dreadful curse is to use every skill he has gained from his worldwide travels. Over the course of his years at sea, Silas has developed his Nautical Prowess (The Deep Gate, 14). When committed to a skill test, Nautical Prowess can boost any area where Silas feels ill-equipped, possessing willpower, intellect, and wild icons. Then, if a chaos token with a negative modifier is revealed during a test, Silas may choose to either draw a card or have Nautical Prowess gain two wild icons. As the world begins to fall into chaos, there's no telling what Silas’s future may hold, but he is prepared to face any challenges that lie ahead. Are you prepared to join him?

Strange Lands
It is a turbulent time for the Unicorn Clan in Rokugan. War with the Lion has put the clan that rides in a precarious position. With so many enemies in Rokugan, they must make sure their holdings outside the Emerald Empire remain secure. This task has fallen to Shinjo Shono, who travels west to meet with the caliph of al-Zawira. But more than a simple negotiation awaits. Shinjo Shono is about to embark on an adventure fraught with peril. What awaits the young Unicorn on his journey?

Also included in Across the Burning Sands is a sixteen-page color insert detailing the history of the Unicorn. From knowledge about their unique use of spells and sorcery to the hidden records of their journey outside of Rokugan, this document is the ideal source for anyone who wishes to learn about the clan that rides.

The Conflicts Ahead
Across the Burning Sands also features two alternate art cards for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game. The first of these cards is a new take on Shinjo Shono (Across the Burning Sands, 5), straight from the cover of the novella! Originally found in Breath of the Kami, Shinjo Shono leads your Cavalry characters into glorious battle, and boosts their skills when you have more participating characters than your opponent. Shinjo Shono is a born leader, and when he is on the field, you gain the ability to run down your opponents during any conflict!

But what is cavalry without steeds to mount? The second alternate art card featured in Across the Burning Sands is the Utaku Battle Steed (Across the Burning Sands, 6). This card, that will also be featured in Warriors of the Wind, allows any Unicorn character to gain the Cavalry trait. It also gives that character additional military and political skill, and honors them when they win a military challenge. This gives any character a significant boost, even if they are already a Cavalry character. Cards like Moto Juro (Fate Has No Secrets, 89) can take advantage of their glory stat to become an even more intimidating presence with the Utaku Battle Steed.

On the Sand Road
Shinjo Shono’s adventure is just beginning. What awaits him in his journey outside of Rokugan? Find out in Across the Burning Sands by Daniel Lovat Clark!

Legend of the Five Rings LCG: Eternal Knot (HC)

The monks of the Togashi Order are known for their wisdom, their strength, their mystery, and the superhuman powers they gain from their unique tattoos. For Togashi Kazue, completing her training is only the beginning, discovering the true power of her enigmatic tattoo may be the true test.

Accompanied by the experienced monk Togashi Mitsu, Kazue embarks on a journey to learn the power of the newly acquired knot design on her forehead. When Kazue discovers the danger her tattoo poses to others, she contemplates the unthinkable. But she soon learns that attempting to deny her destiny is the truly dangerous path.

The Eternal Knot contains a 112-page story by Marie Brennan, a sixteen-page color insert, and three copies of two extended art cards for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game!

Unraveling the Knot
The Dragon Clan has a reputation for being reclusive and mysterious, and none of its people are more enigmatic than the monks of the Togashi Tattooed Order. The ways of this “family” are almost unrecognizable to most samurai, and the powers of their tattoos defy explanation. Each provides a unique form of power, the source of which is known only to a select few.

When Togashi Kazue receives a mysterious new tattoo she struggles to understand its purpose. But as the mystery unravels, she discovers her new power may pose a danger to all. Why was Kazue given this tattoo? What does it mean for the Dragon Clan, and the young monk herself? Discover the answers to these questions in this 112-page story!

“The Eternal Knot” also contains a color insert detailing the history of Rokugan’s most enigmatic clan. From the towering High House of Light to the tattoos that imbue their monks with mysterious power, the Dragon are detailed with beautiful art in this sixteen-page insert.

Untapped Power
The Eternal Knot also contains three copies of two different full-art Dragon cards for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game!

Togashi Kazue (The Eternal Knot, 7) is the main protagonist of The Eternal Knot, and as such, she is one of the full art cards featured in the novella. Originally released in the Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game Core Set, Togashi Kazue is a versatile Dragon character. She can enter the field as a character with three military and three political skill, or as an attachment that can siphon fate from your opponent.

The other full art card featured in the novella is Dragon Tattoo (The Eternal Knot, 8). This new attachment will be released in a future expansion, but will make its first appearance here. Dragon Tattoo is a two-cost attachment that provides additional military skill to the wearer, and opens up their mind to strange new tactics. Any time you play an event that targets the attached character, you can play that event again. Kihō like Hurricane Punch (Breath of the Kami, 17) can double their efficiency if you target a Monk, providing a massive military skill boost for little cost.

While Dragon Tattoo will be pre-released in The Eternal Knot, it will not be legal for competitive play until it is officially released in a Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game product later this year. Enlightened Madness

Tattoos are the source of immense power for the monks of the mountains. But it takes a clear mind and vision to ascertain their true purpose. What secrets does Togashi Kazue’s eternal knot contain, and will its power force Togashi Kazue to change her life forever?

Legend of the Five Rings LCG: Sword and the Spirits (HC)
Legend of the Five Rings LCG: Sword and the Spirits (HC)

A new novella set in the world of Legend of the Five Rings and featuring two exclusive alternate art cards for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game.

The Sword and the Spirits focuses on the Phoenix Clan’s investigation into a mysterious elemental disturbance and the secrets of a vassal family in the mountains. Sent to investigate a murder, Isawa Tadaka and Shiba Tsukune stumble upon an ancient conspiracy.

At over 100 pages, The Sword and the Spirits is the deepest dive into Legend of the Five Rings lore yet, and will be released alongside Disciples of the Void, the Phoenix Clan Pack for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game. In addition, you can learn more about the mysteries of the Phoenix and explore the land of Rokugan from the viewpoint of the most mystical Great Clan—not only with the novella, but with a full-color insert detailing the history of the Phoenix Clan, the Kaito family, and its darkest secrets.

Ancient Tradition
The Sword and the Spirits will also feature two alternate art cards for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game!

The first, Kaito Kosori, is an alternate art version of a card debuting in Disciples of the Void, and marks the first time a character from the Kaito family makes an appearance in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game. Kaito Kosori honors her family’s tradition of skill with a bow while also exemplifying the Kaito family’s mystical elements. While you are participating in an air conflict with at least one character, Kaito Kosori can contribute her skill to the conflict from your home area—essentially giving you a free skill boost to tip a conflict in your favor. Furthermore, as a Shugenja, Kaito Kosori synergizes well with the multitude of Spells found in Disciples of the Void.

The Sword and the Spirits also features an extended art version of the iconic Ofushikai, the sword that chose Shiba Tsukune as Phoenix Clan Champion. Ofushikai offers guidance to its wielder, which can only be one of your unique Phoenix characters, and it grants a powerful ability when it's wielded by a Champion. As an Action during a conflict in which its wielder is participating, you may move a participating character home and prevent them from attacking for the rest of the phase! Since Ofushikai contains the Ancestral keyword, it will be a constant presence on your battlefield, and it's an attachment that your opponent will always have to beware: for both its skill boost and its ability.

Ofushikai is not included in Disciples of the Void, and is instead a preview of things to come. Because of this, Ofushikai will not be legal for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game tournament play until it is officially released in an upcoming Dynasty Pack later this year.

Frozen Memories
What mysteries does the Kaito family hide? Can Isawa Tadaka solve the mystery of the priestess's death, and can Shiba Tsukune save Tadaka from his own darkness?

• A hardbound Legend of the Five Rings novella by Robert Denton III
• Delve into the history of the Phonix Clan with a full color insert
• Learn of the new Phoenix Clan Champion Shiba Tsukune as she uncovers an ancient Phoenix Conspiracy

Legend of the Five Rings LCG: Trail of Shadows (HC)
Legend of the Five Rings LCG: Trail of Shadows (HC)

A new Legend of the Five Rings novella by D.G. Laderoute!

Deep shadows gather in the Shinomen forest. Though this tangled woodland lies north of the Great Carpenter Wall and the traditional domain of the Crab Clan, rumors have led a few Crab samurai to mount a dangerous expedition into the depths of the forest, searching for an ancient artifact forged by Hida Osano-wo himself...

In this 120-page novella, you’ll follow with Hida Sukune on a thrilling expedition into the unexpected horrors of the Shinomen Mori. Then, once you’ve finished the story, there’s still plenty of lore to dive into with a sixteen-page, full-color insert dedicated to the Crab Clan and packed with information on the Kami Hida, the Crab Clan’s wars against the Shadowlands, and their furtive allies, the nezumi.

And if you’re a fan of Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game, you’ll find an extra bonus, since Trail of Shadows comes with two alternate art cards (three copies each) for the game!

Beneath Shadowed Boughs
Hida Sukune, youngest child of the Crab Clan Champion, lacks the strength and fortitude for which his clan is known. With no hope of becoming a great warrior, Sukune has devoted himself to the study of military strategy. Though a trusted advisor and tactician, Sukune constantly confronts his own limitations in a family famed for its martial prowess.

When the ratlike nezumi of the Tattered Ear tribe discover a potent Crab Clan artifact deep in the Shinomen forest, a Crab expedition sets out to recover the relic. Unexpectedly tasked by his father to lead the mission, Sukune must overcome his own doubts as surely as the dangers of the forest—and the dark power that threatens to forever end both the expedition and the Tattered Ear tribe. You’ll discover the outcome of Sukune’s quest in the Trail of Shadows novella!

Devotees of Legend of the Five Rings lore will also find sixteen full-color pages, filled with beautiful art and offering new tidbits of history and backstory for the Crab Clan, the nezumi, and the Shadowlands, as well as the Shinomen Mori and the spirits that dwell within.

Ancestral Power
Trail of Shadows also contains three copies each of two different alternate art Crab cards for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game!

Hida Sukune (Trail of Shadows, 9) is the protagonist of Trail of Shadows, and accordingly, he is the central focus of one of the cards that comes with this novella. First released in the Crab Clan Pack Defenders of Rokugan, Hida Sukune lets you filter your hand with his Action ability, gaining more options for defense and uncovering the best way to keep the Crab bulwarks as stalwart as ever.

The second card included with this novella is Kikyo (Trail of Shadows, 10), an ancient set of ancestral armor. In addition to buffing the skills of its wearer, Kikyo pairs naturally with Hida Sukune—after you draw a card during a conflict with the attached character, your opponent must discard a random card from their hand.

While Kikyo will be pre-released in Trail of Shadows, it will not be legal for competitive play until it is officially released in a Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game product at a later date.

Recovering the Relic
Whether you’re a Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game player or you’re interested in the unfolding world of Rokugan, Trail of Shadows has plenty to offer between an engaging story, detailed lore, and alternate art cards for the LCG. Discover the truth of what lies in wait within the Shinomen forest!

Legend of the Five Rings LCG: Whispers of Shadow and Steel (HC)
Legend of the Five Rings LCG: Whispers of Shadow and Steel (HC)

In the clan infamous for its liars, schemers, and secrets, Bayushi Yojiro is known as the “only honest Scorpion." As an Emerald Magistrate, his duty is to uphold the Emperor’s laws and ensure justice is done. As a Scorpion, his duty is to loyally serve the interests of his clan—even if that means sacrificing his own honor. As both, Yojiro walks a line as razor-thin as the edge of a katana.

When a dignitary of a rival clan is murdered in the Scorpion-controlled City of Lies, Yojiro is sent to help investigate and bring the killer to justice. His fellow magistrates expect him to prevent Scorpion interference, while his clan expects him to protect its secrets. Where do his loyalties truly lie, and whom will he be forced to betray?

Whispers of Shadow and Steel, a new novella set in the world of Rokugan by Mari Murdock, focusing on the Scorpion Clan! Not only does the novella feature a thrilling full-length story, but also includes two extended art cards for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game!

Torn Loyalty
Whispers of Shadows and Steel brings you into the world of the Honest Scorpion, Bayushi Yojiro. When a member of another clan is murdered in the infamous city of Ryoko Owari, Yojiro is torn between his duty as a Scorpion, and his duty as a Magistrate. He is placed in an impossible situation, forced to betray those he swore loyalty to.

Whispers of Shadows and Steel gives rare insight into the world of the Scorpion and their unique concept of duty, while a full color insert gives you a visual and written insight into the clan. Discover the story of Bayushi’s first followers, rumors of the purely fictitious ninja that prowl the shadows, and much more.

Skills of the Scorpion
Whispers of Shadow and Steel contains three copies of two extended art Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game cards, one from the Imperial Cycle and one from the Elemental Cycle. The story of the novella focuses on the Honest Scorpion, Bayushi Yojiro. As such, one of the cards featured in the novella is an extended art version of the Honest Scorpion himself. As a Magistrate, Bayushi Yojiro alters the rules of conflicts—in his case, ignoring the effects of status tokens on participating characters. This can enhance the dishonorable Scorpions around him, and erase the bonus of your opponent’s honorable characters. Though Bayushi Yojiro is loyal in his role as a Magistrate, he still supports his fellow Scorpion in battle and in the courts.

The second card included in Whispers of Shadow and Steel is from the upcoming Elemental Cycle, and showcases one of the Scorpion’s most unique talents. Infiltrator is an attachment that allows you, as an action, to reveal the top card of your opponent’s conflict deck and either play it as if it were in your hand or discard it.

As an attachment, you can repeat this process every turn, as long as your infiltrator is in play, and as long as your bid remains higher than your opponent's. This allows you to infiltrate your opponent’s conflict deck and turn their very best weapons against them—a tactic well befitting a Scorpion.

Shadows and Steel
Duty and loyalty define a Scorpion. But when loyalties are split, a samurai must determine the best path forward. Torn between conducting a proper investigation as a Magistrate, and the need to keep the secrets of the Scorpion their own, Bayushi Yojiro finds himself in a precarious position. Surrounded by whispers of shadow and steel, what will the honest Scorpion choose?

Undercity Novella (HC)
Undercity Novella (HC)

Undercity by Richard Lee Byers, a new novella set in the Android universe!

The world changed. Crime did not. While humanity has achieved amazing feats in the distant future of the Android universe, like an elevator stretching to the moon itself, there’s still a dark undercurrent to the world’s soul. Gangs run rampant, megacorporations skirt the law for a profit, and deep in the heart of the New Angeles undercity, evidence of a serial killer starts to mount. It will take the right kind of reporter to expose the dark corners of this city and shine a light on these mysterious killings.

Undercity features a full 96-page story centered on Javier Zamora, a 16-page color insert detailing the treacherous Los Scorpiones gang, and exclusive content for Shadow of the Beanstalk, an Android sourcebook for the Genesys roleplaying system!

A Labyrinth of Lies
Undercity is the newest novella set in the Android universe and explores the dangerous New Angeles undercity through the eyes of reporter Javier Zamora.

Javier Zamora used to be a real journalist, with all the perks of working for NBN. Now, he vids scandalous, fringe, and downright disgusting content for a less mainstream corner of the Net. His stories draw an audience, enough to fund his life in the undercity. Or they used to, anyway.

When Zamora stumbles on evidence of a serial killer stalking the undercity, he thinks it might be his ticket back to journalistic respect, or at least a steady revenue stream. But as the investigation draws him into a sordid world of underground cage fights and blackmail scams, the notorious Los Scorpiones gang warns him to drop the story.

Faced with the choice between abandoning the story of his career or antagonizing a dangerous criminal cartel, Zamora must tread carefully if he wants to keep his creds, his life, and maybe even his integrity.

Launching alongside Undercity is Shadow of the Beanstalk, an Android sourcebook for the Genesys roleplaying system. After you've finished the story, Undercity's full-color insert invites you to sprinkle elements of the novella into your Shadow of the Beanstalk campaigns with two new adversaries, two new weapons, and two new pieces of gear related to the deadly Los Scorpiones gang. These elements are fully compatible with any campaign using the Genesys roleplaying system, but slot perfectly into an Android focused adventure.

A New World
The Android universe invites you to view a dystopian future, where megacorporations run the world and everyone else just tries to scrape by in an ever-expanding urban sprawl. The undercity is the perfect hunting ground for a serial killer; can Javier expose the story with his life intact? Find out in this page-turning neo-noir adventure!
