Floating down from the dark early-morning skies of Normandy, American soldiers taught the world a new synonym for courage: Airborne. Landing on 6 June 1944, these paratroopers would fight for the next 33 days and go on to represent their country in the victory parade through the ruins of Berlin.

Airborne is a book supplement for the Panzer Grenadier series. It contains 35 scenarios set in the Normandy countryside: 20 of them from the long-out-of-print boxed game, 14 new ones by Mike Perryman, and one mega-scenario by Patrick Callahan. Plus the usual background material.

Airborne includes a mapboard, but no playing pieces. Players will need p laying pieces and some maps from Elsenborn Ridge and Battle of the Bulge; a few scenarios also use boards or pieces from 1940: The Fall of France and Edelweiss.

In June 1942, Japanese troops landed in the western Aleutian Islands of Alaska, the only large-scale foreign invasion of American soil since 1815. In May 1943 the Americans invaded Attu Island, sending 15,000 troops against about 2,500 Japanese defenders. The Japanese fought with suicidal determination: 28 fell into American hands as prisoners with the remainder killed in action.

Two months later the Americans launched an even larger invasion of nearby Kiska Island, only to find that the Japanese had evacuated three weeks before and the Americans captured an uninhabited island.

Alsaka's War is a supplement based on the Japan's lone invasion of the Western Hemisphere and the American response.

There are ten scenarios, or separate game situations, based on battles that took place in the Aleutian Islands. In the spring of 1944, the Red Army finally pushed the fascist invaders back into their own territory on the southern front. Now the Romanian people would be liberated, whether they wished to be or not. The 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian Fronts launched an offensive aimed at rolling up the German and Romanian armies of Army Group South Ukraine.

Army Group South Ukraine: Battles in Bessarabia, 1944 is a supplement for the Panzer Grenadier series. There are 10 scenarios, or separate game situations, based on the battles of April 1944 between the divisions of the Soviet 2nd Ukrainian Front and those of the German 8th and Romanian 4th Armies, mostly the elite Grossdeutschland Division. Boxed game of the tragic 1944 battle for the Monte Cassino abbey. One map, 990 pieces.

Sitting astride the highway to Rome, the historic abbey of Monte Cassino — founded in 524 AD by St. Benedict himself — dominated the surrounding landscape from its strategic hilltop. German paratroopers did not initially occupy the venerable site, but after American bombers destroyed the buildings they turned the rubble into a nearly impregnable fortress. Between January and May 1944, American, Polish, Indian, New Zealand and British troops launched four major attacks on the position, and many minor ones. Three times the Germans drove them back, until finally on 18 May 1944 a troop of Polish Lancers raised their red-and-white pennant over the ruins. Over 50,000 Allied soldiers and more than 20,000 Germans fell in the struggle for Monte Cassino.

The battles took place in the flat, muddy plains of Liri Valley and the steep mountain slopes of Monte Cassino, often in unpredictable winter weather. The Rapido River running around the base of Monte Cassino was only about 16 meters wide, but was up to 4 meters deep and flowed very fast, presenting a major obstacle. Cassino '44 is a complete boxed game in the Panzer Grenadier series by David Murray, covering all four of the battles. From the initial American assaults through the final Polish conquest, every stage of the battle is depicted in scenario form with two lengthy campaign games covering the entire affair.

The map is an original work, also by designer David Murray, and accurately models the terrain of Cassino and the surrounding area. Dave worked from satellite and topographical maps to craft a game map that's extraordinarily accurate as well as attractive. Terrain has been adjusted to fit the grid of hexagons, but all the named locations from battle reports are present and the map sets a new standard for the Panzer Grenadier series.

Forces involved include the tough American 36th "Texas" Division, the 4th and 8th Indian Divisions including Gurkha battalions, the 2nd New Zealand Division with its brigade of Sherman tanks and elite Maori Battalion, and the hard-fighting exiles of the Polish II Corps. A trained bear named Wojtek lugged artillery shells to the Polish guns — even the animal kingdom fought the Nazis. On the German side, the 1st Parachute Division was probably the best formation the Axis put into the field in World War II, and it's assisted by the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division and other formations.

During the Second World War, Italian tank units matched brave crews with decrepit vehicles. Thanks to the monopolies held by the fascist state's favorite corporations, badly outdated tanks caused the deaths of hundreds of tank crewmen trying to combat much more capable Allied tanks with their Italian "iron coffins."

Better machines could have been made available: the P26/40 "heavy" tank (actually a medium-sized vehicle) that failed to enter production in time for the campaign in North Africa, or the German licenses that Italy never sought.

Divisione Corazzata is a supplement based on Italy's planned but un-built vehicles, drawing on pieces already provided in our Desert Rats game and Gold Club supplementary counter sheet, but until now never used in scenarios.

In March 1939, the small nation of Slovakia declared its independence from Czechoslovakia and immediately became a satellite of Nazi Germany. Slovak troops became the first Axis forces to fight alongside the Germans, joining in the invasion of Poland in September 1939. They also marched into the Soviet Union in 1941. After five years as the most minor of allies, the Slovaks turned against the fascists and fought with the victorious Allies in the last year of the war.

First Axis is a 64-page book supplement to the Panzer Grenadier series, focused on the battles of the Slovak Army against the Hungarians, Poles, Soviets and Germans. There are 30 new scenarios plus background articles on the armies and weapons involved and unit organization diagrams. This module is not playable by itself, but requires ownership of Eastern Front, Road to Berlin and White Eagles to enjoy all of the scenarios.

First Axis includes 88 die-cut and mounted playing pieces. Almost all of them represent Slovak forces, including the small country's surprisingly large array of tanks. There are also a few new Hungarian tank pieces included. The book's format is the same as our very popular White Eagles and Fronte Russo books.

A supplement for the Panzer Grenadier system, Hopeless, But Not Serious features 16 scenarios based on the actual actions of the Austrian Army against Socialist and Nazi militias in 1934, and potential battles foreseen by the Jansa Plan in 1938.

Invasion of Germany is a book supplement for the Panzer Grenadier series. It contains 50 (yes, fifty) scenarios set along the German border. This book is a compendium of the scenarios presented in the out-of-print supplements Aachen 1944, Siegfried Line, West Wall, Roer River Battles and North of Elsenborn.

Invasion of Germany includes no mapboards or playing pieces. Players will need playing pieces and maps from Elsenborn Ridge and Battle of the Bulge; some scenarios also use boards or pieces from our Cassino’44, Afrika Korps, Beyond Normandy, Eastern Front, 1940: The Fall of France and Road to Berlin games and Iron Curtain supplement.

Three years after the United States and the Soviet Union jointly vanquished Nazi terror, the two former allies began a four-decade-long Cold War. While it never ignited into a Third World War, both sides armed for it, trained for it, and planned for it. Patton’s Nightmare explores the use of huge tanks and other weapons prepared for this war that never happened. Besides the twenty scenarios, players can take the role of the 2nd Armored Division, V Corps, Third US Army as it fights a hypothetical campaign to seize Berlin from the Soviet forces.

Unlike most other Panzer Grenadier titles, Patton’s Nightmare covers battles that never happened. We’ve given you one plausible scenario background leading to war, that provides the setting and troops for the scenarios and campaign included.

Patton’s Nightmare includes 77 mounted and die-cut American playing pieces and this booklet. Playing all of the scenarios and the campaign in this supplement requires the use of the included pieces plus boards and pieces from our Road to Berlin and Elsenborn Ridge games.

Hunting in the forests of Lithuania, Grand Duke Gediminas lay down to sleep and had a dream. An iron wolf was howling on the top of the hill under which his party camped. Returning home, he consulted Lithuania's high priest, Kriviu Krivaitis, who told him to build his new capital on that hill. "The symbol of the iron wolf means that the city will be large and formidable city," she said. "The city will stand as strong as iron and will protect the land from its enemies." And so was Vilnius, capital of Lithuania, founded. Ever since, the Iron Wolf has been the symbol of Lithuania's defenders.

Surrounded by three hostile powers — Poland, Germany and the Soviet Union — Lithuania chose not to resist their imperialist advances during the Second World War. The Lithuanian Army consisted of but three infantry divisions, a cavalry brigade and a small tank detachment. But many within the political and military hierarchy, including dictator Antanas Smetona, wished to fight.

Iron Wolves is a supplement adding the Lithuanian Army to the Panzer Grenadier system. Nine of the 10 scenarios are hypothetical, but are based on the sort of fighting the Lithuanians saw as likely against the Germans, Poles or Soviets. This module is not playable by itself, but requires ownership of White Eagles, Eastern Front, Road to Berlin and, for just one scenario, Battle of the Bulge.

Following their defeat in the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Japanese next attempted to capture the strategic Port Moresby on New Guinea's southern coast with an assault across the Owen Stanley Mountains. For five months Australian and Japanese troops battled along the narrow Kokoda Trail, across appalling terrain of high mountains and thick jungles. This supplement for Panzer Grenadier features 30 new scenarios, plus two new maps of the jungle and mountain terrain over which the campaign was fought.

Death of the Armata Italiana in Russia

In July 1942, Benito Mussolini scaled up the Italian participation on the Eastern Front as a show of Fascist solidarity. Seven new divisions departed for Russia, bringing the total deployed there to 10. By late autumn 1942, the Armata Italiana in Russia (ARMIR, also known as the Italian Eighth Army) was operating on a 250-kilometer front along the Don River, covering the left flank of the German 6th Army between Hungarian and Romanian forces. Heavy snow and severe frost were hampering troop movements, and defenses were minimal.

The Soviets launched "Operation Uranus” on 19 November 1942, aiming to encircle and isolate the German 6th Army with a double envelopment. To exploit this victory, the Soviet general staff planned a winter campaign of continuous and highly ambitious offensive operations, codenamed "Saturn." When the Germans attempted to relieve the trapped armies at Stalingrad, the Soviets moved up their Saturn timetable (renaming it Little Saturn) and launched a counteroffensive. They encircled the 200,000 soldiers of the Italian 8th Army on the Don. In February 1943, the surviving remnants of the Italian 8th Army were disbanded by Il Duce; a quiet end for the brave men of the ARMIR.

Little Saturn is a supplement for the Panzer Grenadier series, with 10 scenarios based on the battles of the Italian Eighth Army. This module is not playable by itself, but requires use of the Battle of the Bulge, Eastern Front and Road to Berlin boxed games and Fronte Russo supplement. No other games or supplements are needed to enjoy all 10 scenarios.

In the summer of 1941, German panzer spearheads pushed towards Leningrad, Cradle of the Revolution. Adolf Hitler declared the city's capture to be the leading objective of Operation Barbarossa, the June 1941 sneak attack on the Soviet Union. Desperate to stop them and preserve the city of Peter the Great, the Red Army repeatedly made valiant efforts to stop them, and just as often, the Germans rolled over and around them.

By August the city had been isolated from the rest of the Soviet Union, but its defenders refused to yield. For 900 days they held against savage Nazi bombardments, writing an epic chapter in the story of the Great Patriotic War.

March on Leningrad is a supplement based on the German drive to capture Leningrad, and the Soviet defense of the approaches.

Mike Perryman has designed ten scenarios, or separate game situations, based on battles that took place south of Leningrad between June and September 1941.

In a series of actions along the frontier between Romania and Ukraine, Lt. Gen. Hasso von Manteuffel's Panzer Division Grossdeutschland and supporting units effectively destroyed four Soviet tank corps and their supporting infantry. Five years after the war Manteuffel, known as the "Panzer Lion," would help the Allies analyze these battles.

Panzer Lion is a supplement for the Panzer Grenadier series of games, with 10 scenarios based on these battles. Panzer Lion includes just this booklet; you'll also need to use boards and pieces from our Eastern Front, Road to Berlin, Battle of the Bulge and Elsenborn Ridge games and our Red Warriors supplement. We hope you enjoy them.

Crushed by the initial Nazi onslaught, the Red Army reeled back across hundreds of miles. But as resistance stiffened, it became clear that some highly-motivated units fought better than others. These became the Guards, first named in September 1941. They became the Red Army's best troops, with better training, equipment and pay than the regular army.

Red Warriors is a supplement to the Panzer Grenadier series, focusing on these elite fighters and their exploits. It is not playable by itself, but requires ownership of Eastern Front, Road to Berlin and Battle of the Bulge to play all of the scenarios.

While the Soviet Guards are of excellent quality, the supplement also includes German Air Force (Luftwaffe) ground troops of rather dubious merit, plus German Army forces.

Scenarios cover actions of these units in the first two years of the Great Patriotic War, many of them focused on the Soviet Operation Mars, also the subject of our Red God of War game at the operational scale. This supplement lets you explore the same battle at a more detailed level.

The pieces and half of the scenarios appeared in our Heroes of the Soviet Union game, released in 2001 and long since retired to Valhalla. Each scenario from the older game has been completely revised to make use of the many boards and pieces we've published since they first appeared. Each scenario is fully laid out on its own scenario card rather than the booklet used in most of our games.
