You will enter this experience as a group of civilians trapped in a besieged and conflict-ridden city, enduring many hardships that often test the essence of humanity.

Your goal is to SURVIVE until the cessation of war hostilities. During your struggle as the survivors, you will experience dramas connected with making extremely difficult decisions and choices (you will have to face the consequences of your actions sooner or later in the playthrough). Survival itself will often prove not to be enough. The price each of you will decide to pay, might be too high in the final outcome. So the goal is really to survive in a way that will let you live on with the decisions you made.

OPEN AND PLAY
Similarly to what the real situation could look like, you will start with limited information and must learn fast in order to survive. There is no need to read the manual before the game, simply open the box, setup the components and begin! The idea behind it is to make the experience as accessible as possible without any compromise in terms of its complexity and depth.

SURVIVE
There are no points or competitions, just those who make it until the ceasefire. Don’t think the road will be easy! You are trapped in the middle of a military conflict, where moral and ethical obligations are acknowledged by very few. With your group you will manage your shelter, craft items necessary for your existence and defence, explore a vast city and risk your life scavenging for resources.

REALITY IMPACT
Reality Impact was designed to make your each playthrough very personal and unique, it also ensures the stories come to life and the decisions you make are not trivial. Sometimes the consequences of a choice you’ve made will not directly impact the gameplay, but they will reflect back at you when you least expect it. The Reality Impact system is what links the board game with a story and, while they’re merged, elevates them to an emotional experience.

As the siege of Pogoren escalates, its citizens must employ new methods of survival. Players are forced underground to protect themselves from shelling only to discover that the city sewers have a lot to offer - both in terms of danger and opportunities. As if this was not enough, newcomers from the countryside bring tales of atrocities as well as supplies from their destroyed homes. Will players welcome them with open arms or close their door to keep all strangers away?

Tales from the Ruined City enables players to explore the city to its fullest. Sewers offer new ways to travel and scavenge, Farmers with their Market are there to trade... or to steal from if players are pushed to the limit, while Thugs threaten to take everything from the Shelter.
