The City-State of Tempest sits in a small coastal area wedged between the mountains and the sea. While the mountains hold isolated miners, shepherds, and the famed Abbey of the Heavenly Temple, for most people the waters are the lifeblood of Tempest, and its buildings cluster around the canals that weave into every part of the city. That was before a recent storm breached a natural barrier to the Fens, allowing Tempest the chance to expand.

In Canalis, 2–4 players lead a faction as it seeks to dominate the colonization of this new swampy coastal land. You need to provide waterborne access to your buildings, and connect them to the natural resources that previously could not be exploited. Fueled by the promise of wealth and the chance to form and dominate a new district in the image of your faction, this is your chance to ensure that your people control the area from its inception... and never let go.

A game of building a new district in the City-State of Tempest, players in Canalis attempt to expand the city through strategic tile play, laying canals and new construction while fulfilling hidden goals for greater power and preventing their opponents from completing their goals by blocking their plans.

The Next Evolution of Card Crafting Games

Custom Heroes uses the card-crafting system from Mystic Vale in a trick-taking game.

Custom Heroes is a fast-paced, strategic game of set building and strategy. Similar to Diafugo (aka The Great Dalmuti, etc.) the objective of the game is to get rid of all your cards faster than your opponents. You can play sets of cards that have the same or greater value and the same number in the set as the previous player, but you have to balance the use of high value cards vs. the risk of getting stuck with low value cards in your hand as other players finish before you.

The twist in Custom Heroes is that as you play you earn and spend Power resources which allow you to Card Craft the cards in your hand by sliding upgrades into their sleeves that overlap the card and upgrades already present to alter the value and special abilities of your cards. As each round passes the cards become more and more valuable and complex!

Custom Heroes uses a clever system of winning victory points to determine who is the ultimate winner of the game and there is a wagering mechanic that can allow for wild swings and surprise come from behind victories.

Please Note
Custom Heroes is a card-crafting game, and like all card-crafting games there are two important things to remember:

1. All clear cards have a film on them to protect during the printing process, you can peel these off for a brighter color.

2. Do NOT leave your game in a hot place, such as a car during the daytime. The clear cards can warp in extreme temperatures.

Minor Errata
Kodora (buddy card): When Kodora refers to a “turn” it is the same as a hand, meaning the current hand, and if you go out of cards first you win the bet.

Spector (buddy card): When Spector refers to the “pile” it is the same as a round, meaning if, during this round, all opponents pass on your play and you would lead the next trick, at that point you get the extra victory point. If someone else wins the round in which you play Spector, you do not get the point.

The City-State of Tempest is a lively metropolis—some say the largest in the world—yet behind the city’s cultured exterior, age-old cabals vie for power, fighting one another for dominance in a society ripe with political and economic turmoil. Led by shadowy figures who command a small cadre of loyal followers, these secret societies work in concert to seize the wealth and power of the fabled City-State of Tempest.

In Dominare, you are the puppet master of a conspiracy seeking to control Tempest. Agents are the key to Dominare. Use your agents to spread your influence through the city, building a network of hidden power to control the most valuable districts and blocks.

In the game, players first draft agents they want. Then, each turn, the players reveal one additional layer of their conspiracy. Each agent is a unique person in the City-State of Tempest, with unique abilities. The higher an agent in in your conspiracy, the more powerful that agent is.

Players spread their influence in key city blocks and districts, use agent and district abilities to further their plans, and manipulate the board to their benefit. Use your agents well, and influence and power will be yours. Use them poorly, and… well, you wouldn’t be the first would-be ruler to vanish into the inky waters of the city canals….

Dominare is a game of subterfuge and deep-seeded conspiracy for total control of Tempest.
